Hello there and welcome to Rebekah's Dance Academy!
My name is Rebekah Berry, but my friends call me Berry! I am the owner and founder of Rebekah's Dance Academy with fourteen years experience as a dance practitioner, a Diploma in Dance, a BAHons in Performing Arts, an NVQ in Childcare and Development and a wealth of professional experience in dancing, acting, teaching and childcare. I grew up on Anglesey and have lived on the island for the majority of my life. I am an enthusiastic, positive and sunny person with a great love for both my local community and the art of dance. I wanted to combine these two passions by creating a business that will allow me to have a positive effect on the community whilst being able to build a career doing what I love through bringing fun, fresh, inspiring and engaging classes to the children and adults of North
Wales.

I have always loved dancing and movement, however I officially started my dance journey at college. When auditioning for a Diploma in Performing Arts specialising in drama the head of the course informed me that I had a talent for dancing and recommended that I specialise in dance instead. This was an incredibly difficult decision to make as I had always been focused on drama and hadn't even considered studying dance as an option. But I decided to go for it and it turned out to be the best decision that I have ever made! I completed my Diploma in Performing Arts - Dance with top marks and also received a special certificate for my commitment, dedication and growth as a student and performer.
As part of my course at college we were trained in the art of dance teaching. This, along with the professional experience that I have had as a teacher, has helped me to understand that being a dance teacher requires more than simply teaching the techniques and choreography. It requires patience, understanding, empathy, positive energy, passion and an ability to adapt your style to fit various types of learners.
After college I went to study Performing Arts at the University of Salford. Once I had completed my BA Hons degree I stayed in Manchester for a further three years. During those three years I gained experience as a professional dancer and actress as well as a performing arts teacher working at dance and performance schools for children and young adults.
In addition to my dance training I am also qualified in childcare and child development having completed an NVQ level 3 course whilst working in a local nursery for just over four years. This gives me a unique perspective and an
advantage as a dance teacher as I also have a deep understanding of what children need and will benefit from as well as what will assist in their development and overall health. I know how to effectively engage them and make sure that they really do get the best out of our workshops.
I am proud to say that I am also a fluent Welsh speaker and so am able to offer workshops and tuition in Welsh, English or a combination of the two.
It is my firm belief that everyone has something to gain from dancing, whether
it's...
-
Having a fun and interesting way to improve physical fitness
-
The positive impact it has on mental health
-
The social benefits of regularly attending group classes
-
Improving cognitive function
-
Improved heart health
-
Boosting confidence
...there are so many benefits to dancing, regardless of your skill level or age!
So what are you waiting for? Time for a boogie with Berry!
